Gifts from DC

We met up with family for dinner tonight. Ben and Olivia got to open their birthday presents from their DC relatives and what a hit they were! Present opening was such an event other kids in the diner we didn't know gathered around to get in on the fun.

Olivia loves being swaddled up tight, so it seems like we're always grabbing a blanket and rolling her up. Ben decided he would give it a try and came running up to his mama with a blanket from his bed insisting, "Blanket too tight!"

Turns out they both like to be swaddled and were happy like this for nearly an hour - Ben watching Sesame Street and Olivia watching Ben.

Farmers Market

One of our favorite places to go during the summer is the Farmers Market. Ben has a blast going around sampling everything. Grandma Linda has a good time showing off her grandkids.

Beautiful girl

Here is our beautiful girl enjoying this weekend's nice weather. That green, knit sweater thing she's wearing is simply the best piece of clothing she has...totally versatile, goes with everything, super soft, and hand made. :)

VACTERL Network Conference 2009

Here's a group shot of all the kids and adults with VACTERL from the 2007 conference. See Ben? He's the tiny little baby being held by the boy in red in the front row. All of 8-weeks-old.

And here are some pictures of Ben at the 2009 conference...

With his buddy, Haylie. Thanks to her offer of rides, people in wheelchairs and scooters are no longer safe in Ben's presence. We've had to pry him off several strangers who happen to be traveling with the assistance of wheels. It's really, really difficult and awkward to explain. Hee hee.

And here is Ben with his friend, Katie, who we donned Olivia's "conference mom." She had Olivia in her arms for nearly the whole weekend. Bet she's still sore from that!

The 2009 group shot! Ben is in Katie's arms over on the right side of the photo.

Thanks again to our friend, Helen, who ran the marathon to raise money for this conference...and to everyone who donated to her run. THANK YOU!!!!!

Rolling Over

It's official...our little girl is rolling over from back to front now. Let the fun begin!

Neuro and Ortho this Thursday

Ben has two big appointments this Thursday - neurosurgeon and orthopedic surgeon.

We'll start the day with some x-rays and let's hope these go better than that last ultrasound (what with the screaming and crying and restraining and all). Next will be a check-up with the orthopedic surgeon. We're a bit anxious to hear about how the curves in Ben's spine have progressed - hopefully not at all - and the state of his rib cage.

If we're lucky we'll get a little break for lunch before the afternoon appointment with the neurosurgeon. This should be pretty uneventful since we don't have to do another MRI or anything diagnostic for it. Woohoo! The downside is the expected wait is 4-hours.

So, it's going to be a LONG day! We'll keep you posted.
